• Memorandum of Understanding offers places in the
QInvest QTALENT internship program to CMU-Q students
and new graduates
• QInvest professionals will make use of the
executive education programs, research and strategic
studies at CMU-Q
QInvest, Qatar's leading investment group and one of the world’s most prominent Islamic financial institutions, and Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a branch of Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania, USA, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate and coordinate in the fields of research and education.
The MOU will offer QInvest the opportunity to use CMU-Q’s educational programs, research and strategic studies, as well as those from select schools at Carnegie Mellon’s US campus. QInvest in return will provide CMU-Q’s new graduates and students in their final year the opportunity to spend one month working at QInvest under the bank’s QTALENT initiative.
The MOU was signed at QInvest’s offices in Doha by Tamim Hamad Al Kawari, QInvest’s chief executive officer, Farnam Jahanian, provost of Carnegie Mellon University, and Ilker Baybars, dean and CEO of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. The MOU signing was also attended by a consortium of the management team including Fadhel Annan, assistant dean for government and corporate affairs at CMU-Q, and QInvest’s Duncan Walker, chief operations officer, Pascale Al Sabbagh, assistant vice president human resources, and Bassel Hanbali, QTALENT program coordinator and director/head of marketing, corporate communications and investor relations.
QTALENT is an internship program that QInvest developed to provide students and new graduates the opportunity to work in a challenging and dynamic environment across a wide variety of projects and sectors in Islamic financial services.
CMU-Q’s Baybars praised QInvest’s contribution to
business education:
“QTALENT is a market-leading internship program, one which
will truly benefit our students. It is invaluable
experience for students to learn international best
practices across investment banking and asset management
before they begin their careers.”
Al Kawari, QInvest’s CEO, remarked:
“We are very pleased to have introduced this significant
program. Developing the next generation of Qatar’s
workforce is extremely important to QInvest and we place
significant emphasis on training and developing all of our
young people. We are excited about this collaboration with
CMU and we look forward to welcoming our new interns to
QInvest later this year.”
Essa Saud Al-Kawari, CSR program’s spokesperson and
QInvest’s head of government and community relations and
administration affairs, commented:
“Cooperation with leading educational institutions like
CMU is an effective way of expressing our commitment and
support to developing human capital. We at QInvest believe
that finance is a key part of our economy and we are
delighted to inspire the next generation of business
leaders.”
QTALENT seeks innovative thinkers with the ambition to propel the region’s leading investment bank into the future. Successful candidates will be enrolled in an initial orientation course to equip them with the foundation to quickly adapt to working at QInvest. The remainder of the program is a mix of classroom-based learning and exposure to live deals and transactions.
