Seminars to encourage university students to enrol in finance major

More than 20% increase, compared to 2013, in the number of students enrolling in finance post QInvest's seminars
QInvest, Qatar's leading investment bank and one of the
most prominent Islamic financial institutions in the
world, recently held two seminars for over 300 students
from Qatar University to discuss the dynamics of the
finance industry ahead of the students deciding on their
College Majors.
Tamim Hamad Al-Kawari, QInvest's Chief Executive
Officer, said:
Qatar has experienced significant growth in recent years.
We believe that local talent has played an extremely
important role in the country's development and
strengthened the foundations upon which the economy is
built. QInvest seeks to encourage the building of
knowledge, excellence and success and allows students to
gain expertise and grow within a professional working
environment.
Al-Kawari Added: QInvest fully
supports Qatar University's goal to encourage the creation
and growth of Qatar's future leaders within the finance
and business sectors. We are committed to participating in
the preparation of a roadmap for sustainable growth in
Qatar and encouraging the [further] diversification of the
country's economy.
Over 300 female and male students attended the event which
was held over two days. Duncan Walker, COO and CFO of
QInvest, attended the two day seminar and talked to
students about finance and its importance in the global
economy. The students were also addressed by Essa Saud
Al-Kawari, Head of Government & Community Relations
and Administration Affairs; Bassel Hanbali, Head of
Marketing, Corporate Communications & Investor
Relations; Pascale Al Sabbagh, HR Vice President; and Dr.
Hala Kassem, Legal Assistant Vice President.
Professor Nitham Hindi, Dean of College of Business and
Economics at Qatar University, commented:
It was an honour for us to welcome industry practitioners
from QInvest and it was a hugely valuable experience for
our students. The visit deepened our students
understanding of the finance industry and provided them
with an overview of career trends and opportunities in
Qatar and the region.

female and male students attend the event and we will look

The seminar covered topics related to the investment banking industry including treasury, operations, marketing, human resources, legal and compliance. The session topics were developed by Bassel Hanbali and Dr Rami Zeitun, Chair of Finance & Economics, in cooperation with Assistant Professors of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Eissa and Dr. Mohammed Elgammal.
